It is important to find out what your foot type is in order to purchase the correct QUADRASTEP® foot orthotic, littleSTEPS® foot orthotic or littleSTEPS® gait plate.
To discover your foot type, you can book an appointment. Alternatively, why not submit a quick and easy do-it-yourself assessment online?
To assess your feet, you will need:
A mobile phone capable of taking good-quality photos and videos
A level floor with enough room to walk back and forth OR a treadmill
A friend to take photos of your feet and film videos of you walking

Do-it-yourself assessment instructions
You will need to supply the following for your assessment:
- Photos of your feet – see photo instructions
- Videos of you walking – see video instructions
- Foot tracing and signed liability waiver – click here to download
In order for us to remain POPIA compliant, please do not include your face in any of the photos or videos.
Photo instructions
- Take photos of your bare feet in a relaxed, standing position. March on the spot and then try to stand naturally (not the way you think you need to stand).
- Take photos from a place that is central to both feet and close to the floor, i.e. floor level.
- Photos need to be clear and not too far to one side or too high off the ground, i.e. looking down at your feet.
- Three types of photos are required:
- Back view: take a photo of your bare feet from the back
- Front view: take a photo of your bare feet from the front
- Callus view: take a fairly close-up photo of any calluses on each foot

- Get someone to film a short video of you walking barefoot at a normal pace on a level floor or on a treadmill.

- Take videos zoomed in on the lower legs up to mid-calf.
- Take videos from a place that is central to both feet and close to the floor, i.e. floor level.
- Two types of videos are required:
- Forwards: take a video of you walking 6 steps away from the camera
- Backwards: take a video of you walking 6 steps toward the camera
